Greater Kuduland Safaris

THE ORIGINS FOUNDATION X Greater Kuduland Safaris

Location: Limpopo Province, South Africa

51 years as an active custodian!

Greater Kuduland Safaris is a long-established family-owned, hunting and conservation operator focused on ethical, sustainable wildlife management. The company oversees 6400 hectares of mixed-use land supporting both tourism and community conservation projects.

Very generous donations to these projects have been made by our hunting friends from all over the world.  Our aim is to cultivate and increase this generosity every year as there is so much still to be done.  We thank our hunting friends for all that they have done for our local community and may the Blessings continue to flow.

4 current research priorities: rhino monitoring, pangolin monitoring, predator monitoring through camera traps, reseeding/brush control work

2 future reasearch priorities: predators – specifically leopard, bush encroachment – woody growth or grass growth

Wildlife areas sustainably managed and protected

$60,000

annual anti-poaching investment. Five permanent scouts provide 24/7 protection through patrols, snare removal, observation posts, and intelligence monitoring. The program is privately funded and supported by camera systems throughout the reserve, with plans to expand in the future

30+

free roaming wildlife species, with growing impala, kudu, and warthog populations, while black and white rhinos receive ongoing protection

300

animals harvested annually under regulated quotas

500+

animals are live-captured and relocated annually to maintain healthy population levels and support regional conservation

600%

white rhino population growth over the past decade

Elephant Overpopulation

Elephants currently exceed the reserve’s ideal carrying capacity, while roan antelope remain a priority for population growth. Predator pressure continues to limit roan recovery.

March–October Hunting Season

The primary hunting season runs from March through October, although some hunting opportunities extend year-round. All hunting takes place within free-range, non-fenced wildlife systems.

The reserve began operations immediately, with no moratorium or operational delay required

Operations are overseen by four to five governing authorities, including DFFE, NEMBA, TOPS, LEDET, and DALRRD. These agencies provide legal oversight for wildlife management, conservation, and hunting activities

The operator recommends extending government lease terms from 1 year to 10 years to encourage greater conservation investment. Additional recommendations include legalizing international elephant imports to improve wildlife management opportunities and generate additional community income

Ethos

Our ethos is rooted in three generations of custodianship, built on a belief that ethical hunting must support wild landscapes, wildlife, and people for the long term. As a family that has operated since 1974, we see ourselves as pioneers striving to do things the right way—working in large, unfenced wilderness areas where hunting demands effort, respect for the animal, and a deep commitment to responsible, sustainable use.

We see our role in community development as long-term partners doing what we can within the limits of our lease structures; while regulatory restrictions can constrain deeper investment, we remain committed to building positive, lasting relationships and supporting meaningful local benefits wherever possible.

Conservation and Community Program

In partnership with Greater Kuduland Safaris, your hunt becomes more than an unforgettable experience — it becomes a force for good.

Through your participation, a portion of the funds from this safari will directly support The Origins Foundation’s mission of community upliftment and wildlife conservation across Africa.

Your contribution helps create lasting impact — from empowering local communities through education and employment to protecting vital wildlife habitats and supporting sustainable conservation initiatives.

Every moment in the field becomes part of something bigger: preserving Africa’s wild heritage and ensuring that both people and wildlife thrive for generations to come.

Hunt ethically. Give purposefully. Leave a legacy.
