A new standard for conservation storytelling arrives in Colorado this August.

The Origins Foundation, in partnership with Ullr’s Archery, is hosting the Colorado Conservation Film Festival on August 1, 2026. Designed to bring together filmmakers, conservationists, hunters, and outdoor leaders, the event elevates the role of storytelling in shaping the future of conservation.

The festival features a curated lineup of films focused on conservation, outdoor culture, and human connection to wild places. The evening program runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by a filmmaker and industry afterparty from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

This is not just a film festival. It is a platform for the stories that define conservation in the modern West. Event highlights include a curated film program featuring top conservation storytelling, a filmmaker competition with selected works showcased at the event, high-energy afterparty with live music, networking, and sponsor activations, and expanded sponsor and vendor experiences designed for deeper engagement.

The festival builds on lessons learned from previous years, with a tighter program, improved production quality, and a stronger emphasis on audience experience and storytelling integrity.

Filmmakers Call for Entries

Film submissions will be open through June 30, with final selections announced July 1. The festival seeks conservation-focused films, outdoor and cultural storytelling, Colorado-based filmmakers or films shot in Colorado, and work that emphasizes narrative over trophy-driven content. There is no submission fee, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to accessibility and participation across the filmmaking community.

Selected films will screen live at the August 1 event, receive promotion across Origins Foundation channels, and gain extended distribution via YouTube and partner networks. Selected films may have sponsor graphics added at the end of the film’s credits.Filmmakers interested in participating in the 2026 Colorado Conservation Film Fest can submit their work through the official submission form. Submissions are open through June 30, 2026, with selected films to be announced ahead of the August event.

Sponsor and Donor Participation

This year introduces a shift from passive sponsorship to experience-driven engagement, including branded afterparty activations, product demos and tastings, filmmaker and conservation storytelling moments, and direct audience interaction opportunities. Organizers are also expanding the event’s silent auction, which will include outdoor gear, experiences, and contributions from both hunting and non-hunting industries. The event attracts conservation-minded outdoorsmen and women, filmmakers and storytellers, and industry leaders and decision-makers.

VIP Opportunities

We will host a pre-event VIP experience ahead of the festival, bringing together conservation leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.

Held in the Demaske Trophy Room, the private event includes whiskey tasting, conservation-focused discussion, and attendance capped at 30 high-impact individuals. The initiative is designed to foster meaningful dialogue around conservation policy, connect legislators with on-the-ground voices, and align storytelling with real-world decision-making.
